Where you are enough
Updated: Nov 4, 2023
Or maybe it’s Kenough, but either way, it’s been a great holiday in all the ways that are enough.
This trip wasn’t planned. It was a bonus trip in this year of yes. How did it come to be? Like so many other things in this world, a random chance encounter. The right place. The right time.
The cruise has been better than I hoped for. The only thing intimidating about an Atlantis Gay Cruise is yourself, and all of the stories you make up about why you aren’t enough, just like so, so many others things in this game called Life.
It’s a LOT different than the advertising and stories make it out to be. People of all ages, sizes, shapes and colors are represented in a kaleidoscope of life.
Speaking of kaleidoscopes, another interesting observation: it’s incredible how many different speedo fabrics there are. Honestly, all 3000+ of us pretty much exclusively wear them, and I don’t believe I have seen 2 of the same and we all wear a different one EVERY day. Not sure how that’s possible, but it’s is.
The themed parties and the time, effort and expense put into the costumes is…Legendary. There’s probably nothing that a gay loves more than dress-up, drinking and some dancing. 🕺 Add in 3000+ of your now closest friends, and it’s similar to the energy of a Taylor Swift concert under laser light shows, poolside as the sun sets at sail away or under the stars until the wee hours of the night.
Yes, you heard that right. Many of the days include not just one party, but a second one too. Unlike traditional cruises, the hot tubs don’t close, the dining room doesn’t have a dress code…other than clothing is required. Lol. (Only half a joke)
Now, don’t get me wrong, it won’t be exclusively gay cruises going forward, but there will be more gay cruises in the future.
Signing off for tonight, 2 more sea days on the way back to LA.
Go ahead, let your hair down. We are all family here.
