Shut up and put your money where your mouth is

Updated: Sep 1, 2023

That's right. Waking up in Vegas.

Talk about impulsive. Yes. Fun. Hell yes. Why not. Yes.

7:50p was sitting in my hot tub. 9p on a plane on my way to Sin City. Packed, fed and watered the cats, cleaned their litter box and made it thru TSA with a solid 15 minutes to spare.

I already know I forgot my cell phone charger. Think I have everything else, but time will tell. Swimsuits ✅ flip flops (duh, obviously) ✅ Tshirts ✅ dress shirts ✅ shorts ✅ jeans ✅ toothbrush ✅ toothpaste ✅ pills ✅ laptop ✅ laptop charger ✅ wallet ✅ atm card cause I don't have any cash ✅

A comp night at the Waldorf Astoria thanks to my Hilton Honors Amex credit card and away I went.

Walking around The Strip this morning feels good and "right". Vegas was home for a few years while attending UNLV and at one time was a (very) frequent vacation destination after moving to Colorado.

Dinner plans tonight, a surprise. Unsure what else the day/evening will hold. Already up a couple of hundred bucks this morning. This spontaneous trip definitely falls under the "why not" category, but I am here for it and having fun.

I really can't believe I am here, or that I am so fortunate to do this, and all of this. It's definitely not sustainable at this pace, but I am going to do it while I can, as much as I can.

In another why not category, was sitting at Good Judy's, our local 🏳️‍🌈 bar on Wednesday, having my Tarot Cards read by the magnificent Stella Rae and was told I am stuck. Not throwing myself out there. It was a somber reading...so while sitting at the bar having an espresso martini with friends Andrew and Skyler, I booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for Pride in May 2023. Literally like 3 weeks away. Had been talking about going for a while....felt challenged to "throw myself out there" so 30,000 airline miles and a hotel reservation later, I am going to PVR for 9 nights.

The only Pride celebration I have been to is in Grand Junction last year. It was moving to see support and a parade for and from our local community. I am excited to see it celebrated thru a Gay Mecca eyes, such as Puerto Vallarta

Going to PVR is "easy". I've been there several times in the last 20 years. Like more than 5x. I love the food. The colonial town architecture. The Mercado is one of my favorite places in the world lol.

I come home from Mexico, have a trip to Denver and then a stay in Vail to finalize plans for the 2023 Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association conference in Vail in early August, and then will leave for Europe in mid-June.

I am beyond humbled to be taking on the President of Board of Directors role at the CMLA conference. A little bit of pressure. A HUGE honor.

But today, I simply Vegas. And that's a perfect Saturday for me... I hope your weekend is everything you want it to be.

Blessed. Thankful. Fortunate.
