Dominican Republic - 1/10/23
Updated: Feb 19, 2023
Today was a DAY! It was filled with a Zipline+ATV+power snorkel excursion. I'll admit, I am normally not a cruise excursion kinda guy, but it was absolutely fun and a great activity for a solo traveler.
My first oopsy of the trip was not checking the Carnival app to see that we wouldn't be changing time zones, instead would be staying on whats called "ship time". I set my alarm for 6:30 so I could be ready to go onshore by 8:30 but my phone automatically updated time zones like it's supposed to and I ended up waking at what turned out to be 5:30a not 6:30a. Not even the coffee shop was open yet 🤷🏻♂️
So I had some extra time to prep for the day. Got my coffee when Java Blue (the ships coffee shop opened at 6), had breakfast and got my backpack ready to go for the excursion.
The Dominican Republic is beautiful. Water was a beautiful deep blue almost green color, sand and rock cliffs around every corner!
Oh, and I went on BOLT-the roller coaster at sea this afternoon. Yes, our ship has a roller coaster on it. I'll post that video later but am going to go on it again with my new GoPro strapped to my head. That'll be fun (thanks Caden for the idea!)
Summary of the first few days of the cruise:
*Food has been good.
*Drinks have been even better.
*Casino has been fun, but have lost more than won
*shows have been good
*ship is huge and beautiful.
Sleep update:
I think I went to bed around 12:30a last night, so I've had a total of about 8 hours of sleep since I came onboard. Some of that by choice, and some, well you get the picture.
Next up:
Tomorrow is San Juan Puerto Rico. I haven't been there since 2007. I remember it to be a stunningly beautiful city and I am hoping it lives up to my memory. Looking forward to photographing the sights. No excursions planned for tomorrow, just a walk around and explore the city.
I can't get the photos to upload to the blog tonight so check back!
Until tomorrow
